Types of Nozzle




Hollow Cone Nozzles
Hollow cones produce the smallest droplet size of any purely hydraulic nozzle. The spiral grooves in the
swirl inserts ensure an efficient rotation of the liquid, which creates uniform droplets in a ring
pattern.
Full Cone Nozzles
Full cone nozzles spray completely within the interior of a circular area and provide full coverage.
Flat Fan Nozzles
Flat fan nozzles provide uniform coverage in a narrow line of spray. Typically, the spray is
concentrated in the center and tapered at the ends. This axial design is the first choice when a sharply
defined spray is needed for concentrated impact and cleaning power.
Solid Stream Nozzles
Solid stream spray nozzles provides the highest level of impact due to the solid jet concentrating its
total flow in a smaller surface area.
Tank Cleaning Nozzles
Tank cleaning nozzles are either rotating or static sprays. Rotational sprays are either free-spinning
or gear driven and can produce flat fan or solid stream spray patterns. When free-spinning nozzles are
used at the optimal pressure, they provide good spray impact for cleaning but in some cases, higher
pressures can cause atomization of the spray.
Pneumatic Atomization Nozzles
Pneumatic atomization uses the twin fluid principle, which combines both air (gas) and liquid inside a
mixing chamber. The air (gas) is used to break the liquid into finer droplets, which creates the
atomization.
Compressed Air Nozzles
Air does not have the same spray characteristics as liquids and these nozzles are used for dispersing
air or steam in a concentrated area. Generally, air nozzles have a flat fan or solid stream spray
pattern.
Material of Nozzle
Aluminum
Aluminum nozzles are not commonly used for industrial applications. Due to the softness of the material, the wear resistancer is not very high.
Brass
Brass nozzles are generally robust and weatherproof. Brass nozzles over 10 years old still hold up well as long as they’re taken care of. It’s resistant to corrosion and can withstand temperature extremes.
Hardened stainless-steel
Hardened stainless steel has a higher carbon content which makes it able to withstand even higher temperatures. Furthermore, is very wear resistant and the lifesspan of a nozzle is longer than for non-hardened stainless steel.
Stainless Steel
Stainless steel is a bit different from hardened stainless steel. Stainless steel has a lower carbon content, so it cannot go through the same heat treatment process as hardened steel. Nickel-Based Alloys
Nickel-based materials are another option for spray nozzles. They’re more resistant to corrosion compared to cast iron, brass, and some stainless steel. Nickel alloys have an extremely high temperature tolerance, which can withstand the hottest of days or spray products.

Maintenance guide for nozzles
Regular cleaning, maintenance and nozzle replacement
·Soaking/washing with appropriate cleaning fluids is the best method to clean without damaging the
nozzle.
·Always clean tips with a soft instrument such as a cleaning brush.
·Never use sharp instruments such as probes or picks. Even a tiny nick in the orifice will result in
degradation of spray performance.
