Trophy Tensioner Updates and Iterations

Jan 06, 2025 Leave a message

Since 1995, Trophy has been dedicated to providing high-quality tension control solutions for the winding industry. Our tensioner products has always been at the forefront of technology, constantly innovating and optimizing to meet the growing demands of our customers. In this blog post, we will provide a detailed overview of the latest updates and iterations of Trophy tensioners.

First Generation: Mechanical Tensioners

In the winding industry, stable and reliable tension plays a critical role in the quality of winding products. But how did we manage tension control in the early stages of the industry's development?

After gathering customer feedback, persistent research and development, extensive laboratory testing, expert consultation, and small-scale market validation, Trophy officially launched the TC series mechanical tensioners in 2005. These tensioners utilize the principle of mechanical friction to generate resistance, ensuring the wire maintains appropriate, controllable tension during winding. This results in coils that are properly tightened and compact, ensuring consistent technical specifications.

Key Features:

  • Pure mechanical friction structure.
  • Intuitive and simple adjustments.
  • Ideal for high-tension, thick-wire coils.
  • For example, the TC3L tensioner can achieve a maximum tension of 10,000g.

Second Generation: Magnetic Tensioners

The success of the first-generation mechanical tensioners inspired us to develop the second-generation MTC series magnetic tensioners.

These tensioners generate controllable tension by adjusting magnetic torque, leveraging the principle of non-permanent magnets cutting through Magnetic Field Lines.

Key Features:

  • No mechanical friction, ensuring long-term stability and precision.
  • Controllable tension range: 3g to 2,500g.
  • Available in vertical and horizontal models, offering flexibility for different workspaces and conditions.

Third Generation: Introduction of Electronic Tensioners

With advancements in the electronics industry, the demand for greater precision and automation in the winding industry grew significantly. In 2009, Trophy responded to market trends by developing the MET series electronic tensioners, based on magnetic tensioner technology.

These tensioners use an electromagnetic hysteresis mechanism to generate varying damping by altering the magnetic field strength through voltage adjustments in the control circuit.

Key Features:

  1. Simplified setup: Adjust tension using displayed values, improving efficiency.
  2. Automatic tension attenuation: Ensures consistent tension throughout the winding process.
  3. Break detection and overload alarms: Enhance product quality and reliability.
  4. Real-time tension measurement: Large LED display for clear, intuitive readings.

Fourth Generation: Standard Servo Tensioners

In 2015, Trophy successfully developed the DC brushless servo tensioners, which integrate a drive-control solution to achieve closed-loop active wire feeding. By driving the feeding wheel with a motor, this innovation replaced the traditional passive feeding method, offering higher controllable wire speeds and a broader tension control range.

Fifth Generation: Digital One-Way Communication Servo Tensioners

Trophy's N/R series servo tensioners have set a benchmark in the industry with their servo-driven, active wire-feeding capabilities.

Shared Features:

  1. Digital stabilization system: Ensures stable, reliable, and accurate tension values.
  2. Closed-loop tension control: Balances online tension, motor torque, and spring force, enabling adaptive control.
  3. Real-time tension measurement and display.

Key Differences:

  • N series: Supports RS485 communication.
  • R series: Features faster response with CAN communication.

Sixth Generation: Bidirectional Communication Servo Tensioners

The iSX series builds upon previous generations with the following enhancements:

  • Advanced tension control algorithms.
  • Remote one-click tension setting.
  • Customizable multi-stage tension presets.
  • CAN bus communication control.
  • Tension data collection and analysis.

This next-generation digital product supports all mainstream communication protocols, enabling bidirectional high-speed data transmission and seamless MES system integration. It is widely applicable in Industry 4.0 smart manufacturing environments.

Looking Ahead

As smart manufacturing continues to evolve, Trophy remains committed to technological innovation, exploring deeper integration of tensioners with the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). For example, we aim to achieve seamless connections with PLCs, HMIs, and MES systems through protocols like Modbus RTU.

We believe that through continuous technological advancements and optimized customer service, Trophy will stay at the forefront of the industry, creating greater value for our customers.

Precision Components and Solutions

In addition to tensioner products, Trophy offers a variety of precision components and comprehensive solutions. These products aim to help clients meet complex winding requirements and elevate their production processes.
