The main requirements for cylinder selection include the following aspects:
Type selection: Choose the appropriate cylinder type based on job requirements and conditions. For example, buffer cylinders are needed to reduce impact and noise, lightweight cylinders are suitable for lightweight applications, thin cylinders are suitable for limited space applications, guide rod cylinders are suitable for applications that require lateral loads, and locking cylinders are suitable for applications that require high-precision braking.
Installation form: Choose the appropriate installation form based on the installation location and usage purpose. Fixed cylinders are suitable for fixed installation, rotary cylinders are suitable for situations that require continuous rotation with the working mechanism, and shaft pin cylinders are suitable for situations that require the piston rod to swing in a circular arc.
Force size: Determine the output force of the cylinder based on the magnitude of the load force. A cylinder diameter that is too small can result in insufficient output force, while a cylinder diameter that is too large can make the equipment bulky, increase costs, and increase air consumption. It is usually recommended to choose a slightly larger cylinder size to ensure performance.
Piston stroke: Choose the appropriate piston stroke according to the usage scenario and the stroke requirements of the mechanism. It is generally not recommended to choose a full stroke cylinder. A certain margin should be reserved and standard stroke products should be selected.
Movement speed: Select the appropriate movement speed based on the input compressed air flow rate of the cylinder, the size of the intake and exhaust ports, and the inner diameter of the duct. When moving at high speeds, a large inner diameter intake pipe should be selected. For situations where the load changes, a throttling device or a pneumatic hydraulic damping cylinder can be chosen to achieve speed control.
Other parameters: such as whether buffer devices, magnetic switches, and other accessories need to be configured, and whether dust covers or oil-free lubrication cylinders need to be installed in harsh environments.
